Diploma in Sports Event Massage (DSpM)

 

The Sports Massage Diploma course leads the student through applied anatomy and physiology with emphasis on examination procedures and specific techniques for injury and rehabilitation of sports people.

 To gain a Diploma in Sports Massage the student must:

1.     attend 330+ hours of training over 22 weekends.

2.     complete home assignments and practice the practical skills learned at each weekend

3.     attain the required standard, passing the continual assessments, final written and practical examinations

4.     compile the required case studies to the standard required and submit

5.     have the attitude and professionalism required for a professional Sports Massage Therapist.

 

This Course is divided into three parts: Part I, Part II and Part III

 

Part I: consists of eight (8) weekends (120 hours) of anatomy, physiology, and Swedish Massage.

 

Part II: consists of eight (8) weekends (120 hours) of training in Remedial Massage.

 

Part III: consists of six (6) weekends (90 hours) of training in Sports Massage.

 

Entry requirements:

Part I: a good basic education and an interest and enthusiasm for the caring professions. Time and motivation are necessary for the home study required, as well as a reasonable level of fitness!

 

Part II: Diploma in Swedish Massage, or equivalent qualification, e.g. Diploma in Shiatsu, Beauty Therapy, or Clinical Aromatherapy.

 

Part III: Diploma in Remedial Massage or equivalent

 

Time and motivation are necessary for the home study required, as well as a reasonable level of fitness.
